New Gym Radio Ad examples along with audio, written by Shannon Cook

When it comes to Gym Radio Ads I like to make them funny so I get and keep attention of my listeners, plus me being a part time stand up comedian I like to be funny if at all possible.

I have posted some of my other ads on the site already but here’s my latest fitness radio ads. I basically wrote them off the “most interesting man in the world” idea but made them “the most interesting man in the gym” premise.

Here they are:

I had a great response through my website visits from these gym ads. I had a jump of over 40 visits a day on the days I ran these. Any time you run any kind of fitness marketing campaign you need to figure out a way to measure what the response is so you know if it works.

I’ve ran ads that only got a few responses one day then rotated another ad every other day and compared the two, when I got double and quadruple the other ad, then I knew what not to waste money on.

I didn’t try to push my gym or sell memberships at all when I sent out this press release.

I knew they would see that I really and truly wanted to get this great life changing info out to their readers.

I read Tim Ferriss’s new book “The Four Hour Body” and thought this new way of dieting and exercising would be great for people who think they could never lose their weight and would not want to exercise because they think it takes being in a gym for hours at a time for many days a week.

Tim’s book dispels all that, and so did I

You may not believe that a gym owner would ever tell anyone to stay out of a gym more if they want to lose weight and build more muscle, but in fact its psychological, because they will still have to come to the gym for the tools they need to exercise, I just tell them how they can do it easier.

YES, a gym owner said this. “I see people come in all gung ho when they first join the gym only to see them fall off a month later from overdoing it and being so sore they cant move for days, after their first few workouts.

 they think that’s the way they’ll feel after every workout”,and they don’t have to do all that to lose weight and tone up, says Shannon Cook, owner of 24 hour temple gym and tanning salon in Northport, Alabama.

he goes on to tell why you don’t have to become a gym rat to get results

spending 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week is adequate according to “The Colorado experiment”. a study done in 1973 by creator of nautilus fitness equipment, Arthur Jones, and the same experiment done in 2007 by author of the book “four hour body”, Tim Ferriss. The same formula the gym owner/personal trainer now uses for himself and his clients to send their bodies into ultimate fat burning muscle building shock 

The study states

“High-intensity training is not easy . . . the training sessions are brief, indeed must be brief, but there is an apparently natural inclination on the part of most subjects to hold back.” Most exercises are terminated at a point well below an actual point of muscular failure, then, in an effort to compensate for the reduction intensity, the usual practice is to add more exercise to the program.

However, no amount of additional exercise will compensate for a reduction in the intensity of exercise … and if carried to extremes, which such training frequently is, the subject may actually prevent growth by exceeding the recovery ability of the system”.


Arnold Schwarzenegger made exercising to muscle failure popular, and won a record number of competitions by doing it.

however, Arnold did more than 30 minutes of exercising, but he also wanted to have over 200 pounds of muscle on his frame, most of us just want to be TONED, feel good, and have more energy which can be achieved simply by devoting the 30 minutes you exercise to actual intense exercise.

How I took my Gym from 60 members to over 300 in less than 60 days , when the previous 4 years I never sighed up more that 10 people a year. All from learning from this one man about Copywriting, and it works for any type business. The Man was Claude Hopkins. a early 1900’s ad writer whom I think invented copywriting and especially the first ever books on the subject, the first is a how to book, and the other is a autobiography of his life in advertising. the first book is fairly easily found on audio, but i was luckily enough to find the other book on audio and you cant hardly find it even in paperback, much less the audiobook. I have both available on CD.

Learn How to market and write ads from the First and Greatest copywriters of the 20th century in two books he wrote for the companies he worked for to teach how to market, to the marketing departments of those companies because he was drawing in 20 times more business than all his co-workers combined.

Claude Hopkins, , was the world’s greatest copywriter, he turned every company he worked for around, such as Slitz Beer Company, who was in last place among big beer companies back then, after he did the marketing that he teaches in these books, the Slitz Beer Company was number 1 within 6 months of starting his advertising ads. He wrote two books, which I have available in audio book on CD’s, on how to market, write sales copy, and test any product or service. The books are called “My Life in Advertising” and “Scientific Advertising”.

Claude C. Hopkins (1866-1932) He worked for companies like Bissell Carpet Sweeper Company, Swift & Company, Dr. Shoop’s patent medicine company, and Slitz Beer Company At the age of 41, he was hired by Albert Lasker, owner of Lord & Thomas advertising in 1907 at a salary of $185,000 a year Hopkins insisted copywriters researched their client products and produce reason-why copy. He believed that a good product was often its own best salesperson and as such he was a great believer in sampling

In 1900 he once wrote ads for an electric car company (yes they had electric cars then, in fact there were more electric cars made then, then there were gasoline because electricity was figured out in motors before gas was.) that brought in so many orders that they started making too many cars too quickly and the craftsmanship got shotty and put them out of business.

He only wrote 2 books and I have both on Audio CD, I have not found the Audio book “My life in advertising” anywhere else on CD, You can get it in book form other places though.

These rare books on audio are the reason I learned copywriting for my gym business. If you have any desire to learn copywriting whatsoever and take your company to the top of your category, you must get these audio books.

My Story: when I opened my gym in November 3, 2003 I acquired 80 members, by the end of four years I was down to 60 members, so I learned marketing from the greatest copywriter I could find. His name was Claude Hopkins. I read his books and I listen to his books and I studied all of his ads that he had written.

In February of 2008 I use the knowledge I gained from these two audio books and a PDF copy of the ads I have to write my own press releases and radio ads, and within one month I had doubled my membership, and within three months I had tripled my membership.

Anyone who owns their own business needs to oversee their marketing, by this I mean it’s okay to have someone write your materials, but you as the business owner know your business better than anyone, that’s why I say you need to oversee the marketing of your own business.
