What type of flooring should you put in a gym or health club or fitness center

“What type of flooring should you put in a gym or health club or fitness center?”

For the main gym where all the equipment goes I used the bare concrete and i acid stained mine and sealed it so no matter what goes on it, it still looks good. I do recommend you putting at least 3 coats of clear sealer on it.

In the cardio area i like to use carpet, and i recommend using the squares that are about 2′ x 2′ and when anything happens to one piece you simply pull it up and replace it very easily. The best part is anyone can install full rooms by themselves with no knowledge of laying carpet.

In my gym i have a power lifting section and a dumbbell section that i have rubber pieces laid down in. I got the 1/2″ x 4′ x 6′ from a school gym that was getting different flooring for their new gym. The reason i use rubber flooring is that the people that use the heavy dumbbells usually drop them and that tore the carpet up really bad and it looked bad to the visitors coming in.

The flooring i recommend for aerobic rooms is a wood flooring that has rubber cushion attached to it. Its called Boflex flooring. I’m in the process of getting it put down in my wife’s personal training and pilaties and yoga room.

For bathrooms i use a wood floor that snaps together and has a cushion that lays down separate first. You can get this flooring at home depot, sams club, or lowes.

These are my reccomendations for flloring for gyms and health clubs and fitness centers.

Using Psychology to find out what color to paint in your gym or fitness center or health club to get more sales and make people feel good

Using Psychology to find out what color to paint in your gym or fitness center or health club to get more sales and make people feel good

When i opened my gym back in 2003, I choose my high school color of navy blue and white. Little did i know, Blue is the best color for setting positive mood. The color experts say blue is the best, and all our memebers like it.

The one thing i did do wrong was to paint my office a maroon color, red being the color that sets the worst mood. But i painted it maroon because of our home town college football team colors, The Alabama Crimson Tide.

In this way i actually think it works for instead of against us.

Research colors on the net by google the phrase “best colors for mood” or “best colors for gyms or fitness centers or health clubs or spas”

“Turning a regular gym or fitness center or health club into a 24 hour fully automated gym”

My name is Shannon Cook in Tuscaloosa Alabama. We have tried the regular, open from 6am-9pm gym for 3 years. Being from  small gyms, I thought i had to run the same way. which was not very successful.

So i had an idea one day to turn the gym into a 24 hour member only access system. this will no doubt alleviate many cost & issues that having only certain hours causes.

We now have it up and going but until i started marketing i only signed up 3 people because of the 24 hour thing. The marketing turned my gym around from 60 members to over 200 in less than 3 months and still going strong signing people up, and i have retained over 95% of those members which i consider amazing consider the retention rate of most gyms. I did all this through a unique way of marketing that i am in the process of putting into a course and i am also consulting other gym in marketing. I have absolute 100% confidence i can market any gym with what they have and for less half of what most marketers want to spend.
